The Silent 2 TARGA pure sailplane builds on the stellar reputation of the standard Silent 2. It is also practical for the Targa to meet the maximum allowable 220kg (485 lbs)
take-off weight dictated by the FAI's DU Class, assuming reasonable pilot weight.

The Silent 2 TARGA comes with retractable landing gear as standard equipment. The TARGA also has conventional elevator control, but the incidence of the variable-position elliptical-shaped horizontal stabilizer is ingeniously governed by the flaperon setting and the removable winglets differ in their design optimization resulting in a span of 13.3m.
The drag-reduction offered by the TARGA ’s retractable landing gear, vertical-design winglets, and variable-position horizontal stabilizer, further expand the glide performance higher airspeeds.

As for the Silent 2, the Targa's airframe is built entirely of composite materials, with generous use of carbon fiber in the aft portions of the fuselage pod, the tail boom, and various critical locations of the structure. The oven-cured wing structure includes extensive use of carbon-fiber. The sandwich skins use vacuum-bagged carbon fabric for the interior layer and glass fabric for the exterior layer while the wing spar uses pultruded carbon rods for the spar caps.

The pure sailplane's low sink rate and its stability while thermalling allow it to fly with hang-gliders and to be unbeatable in climb. It tows well behind trikes, sport-aircraft, and regular towplanes, making it versatile for all types of glider operations.
