The fuel-injected self-launch version of the Silent Club provides maximum independence. A pleasure to fly, its light weight makes for easy rigging, facilitated by fully automatic control connections. Its light weight reflects its all composite construction, including carbon fiber for the fuselage tail and a fiberglass cockpit, to ensure the best protection in off-field landings. The self-launch Silent Club lands in less than 100 m (330 ft) thanks to its superb conventional airbrakes.

The excellent climb performance, matching standard class sailplanes, is complemented by -7° flaps to retain good performance even at 150 km/h (80 mph). Take-offs and landings are easy. With a wing span of only 12 m (39 ft), storage is simple. A closed "clam-shell" trailer is available for transportation. A straightforward engine installation allows ready access for both preflight inspection and maintenance. The extension and retraction mechanism is reliable, safe and rapid, resulting in minimum loss of altitude during shutdown or redeployment.

The mapped electronic fuel-injection and ignition system (FADEC) optimizes engine efficiency under all operating conditions. Benefits of this are lower fuel consumption, lower emissions, elimination of fuel odors in the cockpit, and reliable engine starting under all conditions. The single-blade propeller, with its patented teetering balancing system (Pat. No. 5971322), takes up less space and minimizes propeller-induced vibrations. Shutdown is easy and propeller orientation is straightforward permitting rapid retraction of the powerplant system.  The single-cylinder engine, with its counter-rotating balancer shaft and rubber engine mounts, is effectively isolated from the fuselage. The engine is operated by an electric starter and the flywheel has a built-in generator. The light weight of the self-launch Silent Club's engine system results in the retention of the excellent handling of the Silent Club pure sailplane. This combination of innovation, reliability, and performance makes the motorized Silent Club a significant advance in self-launching sailplanes.
